WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
This afternoon into evening/7 hour workshop is designed to provide an opportunity for aspirant Mountain and/or Hill & Moorland Leaders to practice and refresh skills and knowledge as they prepare for assessment. The workshop is also open to qualified ML/HML etc who may wish to recap skills and avoid skills fade.
This workshop will be focused on the planning and use of suitable strategies to navigate during poor & low visibility conditions, as relevant to the level required of the Mountain Leader Award.
Attendee learning will be provided by using demonstration, explanation, discussion and practical application of appropriate techniques.
At the end of this workshop attendees should have - an insight as to where they are in regards to preperation for an assessment, an understanding of the levcel of navigation competence requried and a knowledge of various techniques which could be utilised during low/poor visibility conditions.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Clothing and kit as required/expected to be carried by a Mountain/Hill & Moorland Leader if leading a group out on the, suitable for the conditions expected & HEADTORCH!
CATERING/FOOD
None provided. Please bring food, snacks, drinks/warm drinks for the day into night workshop.

Mark Valentine is a Summer, Winter & International Mountain Leader, and also holds the RCI, CWDI & FCA Awards. He is a Mountain Leader Award Course Director working with, and on behalf of , both Snowdonia Mountain Skills (MTC) & Mckinlay Mountaineering (MTE).
