The workshop gives individuals essential knowledge/skills & useful tools for managing and leading teams/groups within a specific context of promoting effective, safe leadership & communication. Suitable for prospective, new and established leaders who wish to develop their skills. The workshop is applicable to both adult and youth expeditions. It includes interactive sessions, case studies and scenario-based examples, along with up-to-date national developments. Includes insight into expedition companies, and what they look for when employing leaders.
Matt Brown is an IML, adventurer and experienced independent consultant/trainer with 30 years of professional social worker practice and outdoor freelance experience. Matt currently runs Bluestone Outdoors, a small outdoor training, guiding and expedition service. He has been leading and working on expeditions worldwide since the 1980’s. He currently works with a number of Leadership and Performance Consulting businesses across the UK.
Overseas Expeditions: Matt has led expeditions to 5 of the 7 Worlds Continents, which included: Madagascar, Argentina, Malaysia, Borneo (jungle trekking), South Africa, Costa Rica, Morocco, India Himalaya and China, which have involved high altitude trekking up to 5300m.
Personal Travel Experience: Matt has also travelled extensively throughout the World’s Mountain/desert regions, completing trekking peaks (at altitudes in excess of 6000m) and explored the Canadian wilderness on expeditions researching bears. He has also travelled widely throughout most of Europe, including alpine ascents. He has recently returned from an unsupported Arctic Expedition.
