Nature of Snowdonia Workshop - Be an Inspiring Environmental Advocate.
Workshop Content
This is a special Nature of Snowdonia Workshop for members of AMI. The idea is to inspire you to want to be an advocate for the environment. I’ll take you through some of the things I do on an environmental workshop and we’ll look for ways to help you play a greater role in introducing the environment to course attendees.
I suggest that those leading, instructing and guiding people in the countryside should not only know something about that countryside but that they should be passionate advocates for the places in which they operate…
Now, more than ever, it is important that our leaders and instructors are inspired, and enabled, to share their knowledge and understanding of the environment with the people they lead. We see people leading in a range of different situations to those which might have been the traditional role of our leaders and instructors. As navigation becomes increasingly digital and we realise how safe hillwalking and climbing are we should enable our leaders to make a difference to their groups with environmental input (we can discuss this bit!).
This will be a ‘safe’ space with no judgments on your knowledge made. We use a ‘need to know, nice to know’ approach. My job is to enhance your knowledge, to fire up your enthusiasm, but also help you with techniques for inspiring others.
We’ll be walking around Cwm Idwal so come dressed for the weather and don’t forget your lunch.
