Chance to practice emergency ropework skills on steep ground. Suitable for award holders and trainees. Fundamentals will be covered followed by practice using the rope to assist descent/ascent, and the methods for the leader to safeguard themselves in descent. We will also discuss group management on steep ground and use of a confidence rope.
The practice pit is at SU741797, handy to know if running late
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Bring a rope and helmet if you have them (don't buy if you don't - we'll have a few spare to lend), gloves, long sleeved top and trousers, wear boots and clothes suitable for time of year and weather. Headtorch might be needed to walk out. There will be brambles and nettles around the practice area, and the wood has a deer population, so a check for ticks after is essential.
