Hello all
I am putting together, for a small group of people (max. 6), a two day QMD weekend with a wild camp inbetween. This is still a peer-to-peer session.
WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
The idea is to run this in two phases.
Phase 1 pre-weekend planning
Being involved in planning is one of the key components towards counting any outting as a QMD.
The individual takes part in the planning and leadership.
To this end an online planning session would be held approximatley two weeks before the event. Here, routes could be discussed with regard to experience, ability and the forecast weather. As could any ideas for peripheral skills talks, if anybody wanted to share their interests; I’m always happy to talk about archaeology and folklore.
Phase 2 the weekend
The aim of which would be to fulfill the rest of the QMD criteria with reference to the planning above.
An unfamiliar locality is explored.
A mountain is ascended.
Navigation skills are required.
Knowledge is increased and relevant skills practised.
Judgement and decision making is required.
Five hours or more journey time.
LOCATION
Exact locations for start, overnight and finish would be discussed in the planning phase but the general area will be those hills between Ennerdale and Wast Water; the Ennerdale Fells and Copeland Forest. This area includes the likes of Pillar, Red Pike and Yewbarrow. It is considered one of the least trod areas of the National Park.
A lift is available for York. This can be discussed in planning.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Plan for two-days, one night in the Cumbrian Fells and the weather forecast
