Come join us for a late evening walk up Roseberry Topping, combined with some astronomical knowledge and infused with a few solstice-related folktales...
WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
While most people consider the summer solstice to be a day in reality it is an exact moment in time that falls upon that day. This moment comes when whichever hemisphere you're in is most tilted towards the Sun. In 2024 the summer solstice will occur on Thursday 20 June at 21.51 BST (20.51 GMT).
This roughly corresponds with sunset on Roseberry Topping at 21.45!
The aim of the evening is a social walk up to Roseberry Topping to hit the top at sunset/solstice.
More information on the summer solstice can be found on the Royal Observatory website.
