Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

This Rock Climbing Instructor qualification (formerly Single Pitch Award) run by Leading Edge is all about supervising safe climbing and abseiling sessions on single pitch crags. Whether you're a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor centre instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification has been designed to maintain high standards of supervision so that people can enjoy safe sessions in this increasingly popular sport. Rock Climbing Instructor assessments are run in an atmosphere which ensures we get the best performance from you we can. Again it is relaxed and open, encouraging discussion and debate around many subjects. It will invariably provide us with the chance deliver extra learning and coaching for you but all the while allowing you the maximum amount of opportunities to shine. Leading Edge try very hard to make this a super positive experience.  We will meet at the very fine and friendly Tyn-Y-Coed Hotel on the first morning of the course where we will begin with an informal chat and an explanation of how the assessment process works.
