Idwal Buttress and Continuation - A big mountaineering day with Marty and Dave.
We made good progress, choosing to stick to the thin slab just to the right of the main route on the lower buttress.
On the upper buttress, we chose a route again right of the usual route, and we practiced my alpine/fast movement techniques (body belays, rock friction belays, short roping, etc).
Having gone our own way, we found ourselves on a blank, greasy slab area in big boots! It was getting late, so we chose to retreat.
Unfortunately, there were no solid bollards or chockstones, so had to leave some gear in situ.
Safely down to the car by 4pm, in time for coffee and cake at Siabod Cafe.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
