CMC Winter Skills Dat. Conditions: cold (0 in the valley), damp, unconsolidated snow from approx 500m. Light snow on the summit later in the day. ground not frozen.
I took Kieran (MAM) on some steep ground instruction. We started midway between the Glan Dena and Milestone Buttress kissing gates, ascended steep ground planning our route. Then we headed to the Heather Terrace, found the Tryfan Cross, then went up Little Gully (grade 1 scramble), which was covered in a sprinkling of wet snow.
Once on the summit, we then headed back via the South Arete and, rather than going via Bochlwyd, cut around to the corner to pick up the bottom of the Western Gully scree path. Then finally descended to the car park with the mean ramp.
Reg and Nanw the dogs also in attendance - they needed a bit of a hand getting up!

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
