Description

Dot and I set off from Llyn Ogwen. Walked to Carnedd Dafydd via Bryn Mawr and Pen Yr Ole wen. Then on to Carnedd Llewelyn and back down the SE Ridge, past Ffynnon Llugwy Reservoir to the start. It was a stunning day with the hills covered in snow, sunshine and clear skies. We saw rainbows high in the sky. I think formed by refracting ice crystals in the atmosphere. Never seen anything like it before!
Next day, the weather could not have been more different. We had camped at Gwern Gof Uchaf about 1km East of Llyn Ogwen. We drove to the National Trust Centre and walked to Llyn Bochlwyd. We were planning to go on to Bwylch Tryfan and the Glyders but it was fast becoming a blizzard at our height let alone up on the plateau. So we walked west down to Llyn Idwal and walked round the lake looking at rocks and comparing Conglomerates with Breccias.
