Description

We started from BenMore farm to try to climb Stob Binean. We had previously climbed Ben More but been driven back from Stob Binean by the weather. We were about half an hour from the top but we had to turn back again due to heavy snow, hail, sleet and strong winds. The ground looked like wallpaper paste and I didn't fancy it if it froze.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
