Let the TLs lead with the planning and execution, stepping in only where necessary to steer them a little.
0500hrs start.
Heading up the northern branch of Zara headwater.
Climbed a scree slope to 5800m, then descended 75m to cross a void. Climbed out the other side kicking steps up an unavoidable snow patch.
Windy on the ramp to the summit and a concerning storm blowing through from the Karakorum - which luckily passed just South of us, creating some v dramatic skies.
CZ, TC and I hung back near the summit to give the TLs the sense of independence. A few false summits later we were all on top. Alt read 6100m. Stayed 40mins on top. Great views in all directions.
Fun initial descent, skiing the snow slope, then running the scree. Dylan and Eliana had really slowed down.
More route finding and step kicking to revere the snow slope. From here the descent was straightforward, if slow.
I went ahead to camp to get water boiling. The team arrived around 6pm. I fed and watered them, we all felt better and then we went to bed before dark, not least to escape the cold.
CZ, TC and I played cards and listened to Neil Young (I taught them Yann Yves)
Great day! :)
