Description

Most of Saturday spent in foggintor quarry (near the prison) practising scrambling skills, rope anchors and body belays.
Moved to sticklepath where we dropped the car, walked through the ancient wooded valley to the west, turning south out of the valley and onto the moor. Stopped at the last definite water source to stock up, then continued up taking our own route onto cosdon beacon. No paths. Wild camped on the summit. Morning came with 50m visibility and strong wind. An excellent bit of nav work got us off the hill using timing, distance, speed and contour observations so really pleased we got to do this. From then an easy walk through farmland back to the car.
