Top up your logbook day 4.
Weather drizzly to start but cleared into windy but sunny day.
Walking with Kevin Farrow, Sarah, Tom B and Matt.
Used Harvey's 1:40.
Planned walk to start at Old Dungeon Ghyll and summit Pike of Blisco, Crinkle Crags and follow ridge to Bow Fell, summiting if light and time allowed, before depending The Band back to Old Dungeon Ghyll.
Parked on road leading to Bleau Tarn. Severe buffeting as we started to climb hill. Dropped down into slight re-entrant for temporary shelter and discussion on wind speed and how best to walk in it without getting blown over.
Ended up cutting Bow Fell out, and heading down The Band from 3 Tarns, and back to Old Dungeon Ghyll whist Matt ran up for the van.
Great views across majority of Lake District.
Area :
Central Fells
The Vale of Keswick, provides separation from the Northern Fells whilst to the west runs the long valley of Borrowdale. The parallel eastern boundary is created by Thirlmere and the St Johns in the Vale. Grasmere to Windermere forms the remainder of the eastern boundary. In the west, Stake Pass descends into Great Langdale.
