Description

Day 1 of AQ Winter Skills. Working with Bruno Yates.
Parked at Chisholm Bridge, went up Glean nam Fiadh and then twds Bealach Tol Easa. River crossing difficult. Snow soft and banked.
Wind gale force from the bealach. Sheltered behind a rock for lunch and then climbed the W facing slopes to 800m where we found suitable conditions to teach and practice self arrest. Snow soft and wet.
Descended to vehicle just after last light.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
