Description

14.4km + 1010m. North West Highlands.
Layby GR532271 off A836 (09.10), followed the track to the cairns of Cnoc Sgriodain (10.20) with a pause to enjoy the views, before trundling along the ridge to Ben Klibreck (12.30). Didn`t hand about due to the strong wind, and clag, headed back down. Half an hour later the summit cleared and I was taking photos of the route I had taken. I was back at the van at 15.15.
It was a good walk, with crampons needed to get down the rock hard snow above 750m. On the way up I`d managed to make do following old footsteps!
I did have the bonus of spotting a couple of otters as I waited in the queuing traffic on the Cromarty Bridge.

Area : Coigach to Cape Wrath

This area is situated on the north-western tip of Scotland and contains 4 Munros (from biggest to smallest); Ben More Assynt (998m), Conival (987m), Ben Klibreck (962m) and Ben Hope (927m). Also included in the mountains list are all of the peaks above 700m. The southern boundary is the road which joins Ullapool to Lairg and then to the A9.
