Description

Parked car at carpark by Ladybower res/Derwent Dam and walked along the road to where the River Westend entered Howden Reservoir (SK154927) and followed River Westend NW and then took bearing from river towards Westend Head and then up to the top of Bleaklow. Took photos of Bleaklow stones and followed stakes/bearing to follow path of sorts to the NE and N towards Howden Edge and Featherbed Moss. Route headed SE along path until the junction of f'path and bridleway. Short out-and-back to top of Margery Hill and then down footpath to drop back to the Howden reservoir. Rejoined road and then a long walk aback towards the car park. Long day - wish we had the caught the bus for the road sections!

Area : Dark Peak

Is situated between Sheffield and Manchester. The underlying rock is Millstone grit which is often exposed at the edge of the higher peat bogs for which the area is famous.
