Description

First weekend hillwalking with girlfriend - she had done DofE award but had not been walking since. Started in Bamford and headed up Bamford Edge and walked N towards the A57. Crossed road and headed E and took path over the clear path up to Stanedge Edge and followed the edge before dropping back down to Hathersage and returned to Bamford along the river derwent. Not the most adventurous in terms of navigation but route chosen as a a great intro for new walker and the views were amazing

Area : Dark Peak

Is situated between Sheffield and Manchester. The underlying rock is Millstone grit which is often exposed at the edge of the higher peat bogs for which the area is famous.
