Description

This was the first day of a silver DofE practice expedition. The group consisted of 5 girls who had all done their bronze award in the previous year so this was the first day of their silver award expedition and we were walking with the groups to remind them about navigation and ensure they were confident in walking in more remote and hilly terrain.
Day 1 was a low level walk starting in the village of Kempton (SO360830), walking east to Hopesay and Hopesay hill before heading north towards Ridgeway Hill and Horderly before making their way to the camp at Hamperley (SO 420892).
Day 2. We walked with the groups again this time heading west to the ridge of the Long Mynd (by the Gliding club) and down to the village of Asterton. At this point we held back from the group and they continued via Wentnor and the hills/moor to the east of Norbury Hill. They descended via the farm of Birchope and camped at YHA Bridges/Ratlinghope
Day 3. Remote supervision - groups climbed back up to Long Mynd and along ridge path to the Trig point. They descended to the East and finished at the village of Minton
