Walking with a friend, staying at the YHA campsite in Okehampton. Walked out of camp onto the moor past Okehampton camp. Followed track initially before heading SW over Rowtor, West Mill Tor and Yes Tor. Mixed weather at first with the summit of Yes Tor covered in cloud. From Yes Tor we headed south over High WIllhays and then on to Lints Tor. Followed West Okement River past the walled enclosure filled with trees (unusual!?) and down to Meldon Reservoir. Followed track on south side of reservoir and then crossed dam to pick up West Devon Way footpath back to Okehampton. First day on Dartmoor for a long time - was interesting to see how high it was compared to surrounding land. First time also for ensuring that live firing was not taking place!
