Description

From Keswick cottage near Costa (Town Centre), CastleHead wood (looked for geocache) , Spring Wood, Walla Crag and Bleaberry fell for compass work in poor vis, down path to side of Cat Gill and return to Keswick via woodland track in Great Wood. Good visibility lower down and good view below cloud level. Steep descent via stream and back along lake to Keswick. NNAS Assessment (Silver- James B).

Area : Central Fells

The Vale of Keswick, provides separation from the Northern Fells whilst to the west runs the long valley of Borrowdale. The parallel eastern boundary is created by Thirlmere and the St Johns in the Vale. Grasmere to Windermere forms the remainder of the eastern boundary. In the west, Stake Pass descends into Great Langdale.
