Description

I did this walk with two good friends. It was the day after my group walk to Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime, and this was deliberate, as I'd signed up for a weekend in Torridon the following weekend, and I wanted to get my hill fitness up.
In fact, I found that I was really tired during this beautiful walk, and as we were walking up the ridge of Beinn a'Chreachain, I commented to my friend that it was the toughest climb I'd ever done! Before getting to that point, we'd had a tricky river crossing and a walk through a lovely native forest with some very unpleasant biting insects that we'd never encountered before!
On the way to Beinn Achaladair one of my boots split, which was quite depressing, but it wasn't too bad and I was able to continue. I loved the rocky climb up to Achaladair, but I found the long walk back a bit wearing, as I was so tired. However, it was a good day out.

Area : Bridge Of Orchy (Beinn A'chreachain) To Schiehallion

The mountains immediately to the south of Loch Rannoch and to the north of Glen Lyon stretch all the way from Schiehallion (1083m), the birthplace of Charles Hutton’s contour lines, to Beinn Dorain (1076m) near the Bridge of Orchy. There are twelve Munros and a number of other peaks (above 800m) in the mountains list. The peaks to the south of Glen Lyon are included in the Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay area.
