Description

56. Group: Craig (recovering knee op). Moelwyn Mawr, Moel Druman and Allt-fawr from Tanygrisiau. Forecast: -1 (feels: -6) black clouds, heavy snow. Weather: overcast, some cloud, light snow showers, generally damp under foot>
I planned a 12.8km route around Moelwyn Mawr that took into account a) the possibility of heavy snow and b) Craig’s knee recovery programme. So the slopes were as shallow as possible (apart from the Moelwyn Mawr south ridge ascent and east face decent).
Actually wasn’t any snow to speak of.
Due to the broken bridge at the end, we “had to” practice our river crossing technique!

Area : Moelwynion

The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
