41. CMC Meet to take in Elidir (and Foel Goch). Weather cold, overcast, some ice on paths, but almost no snow. Tim, John M, Helen & I took the alternative route: A car was left near PYG, so we walked direct to Elidir, over Y Garn, up to Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach, then down the miner’s track back to PYG. The start was cool, but initial ascent was enough to work up a real sweat. Regulating heat was key. Luckily Tim had recently done his ML training, so instead of setting a blistering pace all the way, he tempered his speed a little!

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
