Description

38. Walk to Seathwaite Tarn reservoir. A bit windier, again overcast. Snow and cloud on the tops. Parked up near Hinning House. Walked up to the top of the tarn and crossed at Levers Hawse where the crazy floating mats of grass bounced about as I walked on them! Walking wise, the only complication was that the mapped path crossing at NY245987 was in flood, so diverted the group to the west down a steep slope and eventually crossing a footbridge at NY238985.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
