Description

26b. Ingleborough Summit (6.5km): Had tea in the pub near Chapel-le-Dale. Group: Ruth, Emma (9). Headed up to the summit at about 8pm, reached tops in time for the lighting of the Beacons (10pm?) to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, watched fireworks across the Dales. Temperatures were freezing on the top (0degC). Returned down in the dark with head torches the same route we came. < 5 hours

Area : South Yorkshire Dales

Most of the larger southern dales (e.g. Ribblesdale, Malhamdale and Airedale, Wharfedale and Nidderdale) run roughly parallel from north to south. Includes the Three Peaks, Malham and Langstrothdale/Wharfdale.
