Description

Second day of a mountain trip to Wasdale. Took the Bridleway path that heads NW from the Wasdale Head Inn and headed up Mosedale. We followed the path up Blasck Sail Pass and at the top headed right up Kirkfell Crags and on to Kirk Fell. From the summit we headed East towards Kirkfell Tarn and Beckhead Tarn before heading up to Great Gable. From the summit we took the path that descended to Sty Head and then took the bridleway that followed Lingmell Beck back to the pub for dinner.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
