The beast of the east that wasnt meant to hit Ullapool did, so we were snowed in somewhat. I took the opportunity to get out and practice what I had been taught on winter training about avalanche profiling and practice. Accompanied by my husband we set out not particularly for a summit but to play in the snow. We happened to get up to 650m before the wind gave me enough of a pounding that we turned back. I spent a couple of hours digging snow profiles, bucket belays, and generally bossing stewart about.
Gale force easterly winds, bitterly cold, and meters and meters of deep deep snow.
