Description

Parked in Beddgelert Forest carpark and headed NW following the bridleway out of the forest towards Rhyd-Ddu. After leaving the forest I headed up the SE side of Y Garn roughly following the line of Cwm Marchnad and headed to the summit of Y Garn. From the summit I followed the wall to the start of the scramble up Mynydd Drws-y-Coed and climbed to the summit and then followed the ridge along to the summit of Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd (with the obelisk). From here I followed the line of the fence SW off the summit and crossed the fence before heading down to the valley via the southern spur of Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd. I picked up the footpath/bridleway in the valley and walked past the old slate workings underneath Y Gyrn and headed back into Beddgelert Forest and back to the car.
Great day on the hills; Nantlle Ridge has been on the list for some time and this was my first climb along it. A little surprised by the exposure on Mynydd Drws-y-Coed but the scramble was rather simple when started. The hardest point of the route was the steep and eroded path on the coll just before Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd. I will be back to complete the ridge another time

Area : Nantlle & Hebog

The Nantlle Ridge is the name given to a small range of mountains in Snowdonia, north Wales which runs south-west from the village of Rhyd Ddu for a distance of about 9 km (6 mi), ending above Talysarn and Nebo in the Nantlle Valley.
