8km sea kayak, 15km + 1160m, 5.7km sea kayak. Loch Mullardoch, Cannich.
North end of Loch Mullardoch dam (08.25), paddled to GR142309 (09.30) where it took about twenty minutes to get organised to start walking. Headed west uthe track beside the Allt Coire a' Mhàm until it ran out out. Continued along side the stream until a large boulder on a distinctive bend identified from aerial photos (1040). Crossing a short section of peat bog, and I was climbing the main slopes and ridges of An Socach (12.35). The continuation ridge to the bealach (13.00), and up onto west top ((13.30), south west top (14.00) of An Riabhachan (14.00) was very pleasant. I continued to the north west top (14.20) before descending its south-east ridge, picking up the track at Glas Toll with took me back to the shooting lodge, where I had left the sea kayak (16.15). After a repack and sort I was heading further up the loch to GR102285 (17.35), where I set up camp for the next couple of nights.
Getting the sea kayak and all the kit down to the loch, takes some time, plus the packing! It was good to be down at a reasonable time so that I had time to finish the paddling and get the tent pitched etc without having to rush.
