Description

Starting from Croesor I headed NW through oak woodland before entering open moorland. As the ground levelled out I turned NE and ascended along a pleasant path before the final ascent to Cnicht. From the bottom it looked quite intimidating but once there it was not difficult at all. I continued NE along the ridge to join a footpath by the river Afon Cwm y foel. Then I proceeded SE to some old slate quarry ruins and SW past Llyn Croesor (tarn) and joined a track which led past Croesor-fawr to Bryn, where I joined a minor road which headed SW to get back to the car.

Area : Moelwynion

The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
