Ascent of Pania della Croce from Piglionico Chapel. Planned trip and led my wife Marion. Didn't intend to do any walking on this holiday - mainly sightseeing in Florence and Pisa, but views of Alpi Apuane from our accommodation were too good to resist. Got info on the route and on weather from the internet. Bought topo map in local village tourist centre. Very clear weather conditions and good waymarked path to Refugio Rosso, no difficulties. Mild scrambling / exposure on summit ridge.
Started 9 am, back at car 1:15pm.
