Solo ascent of Monte Sumbra (1765m) via East Ridge. Planned on the spur of the moment via internet, inspired by views of the mountain from our holiday acommodation. (Summitpost website description sounded quite challenging - "contains vertical walls on all sides but one, where the (blunt) knife edge east ridge offers a panoramic, but severely exposed easy access to the mountain.... a wonderful balancing act above the abyss of the south face....(although) exposure is huge the actual difficulties are limited". ). This turned out to be quite accurate, and when I missed the easier traverse path on the way up, I had to stick to the most exposed route along the crest. Thankfully the scrambling was not at all technical, but still needed care. Used the easier path in descent. Just over 5 hours car to car.
