
Lake Bala, Central Wales: Open Canoe training on Llyn Tegid/Lake Bala. Cold February morning with fog and mist, changing over to sunshine in the afternoon. Training with "Mountain Water Expeditions" in open canoe expedition skills. Started at North End of Lake Bala, worked on paddle strokes, boat control, gear selection for winter/cold water paddling, packing canoe, poling at the mouth of the river at the South end of the lake. Lake Bala is 5 miles long. Safety and self rescue training. Expedition planning, weather reports, reading water. On the water approximately 5 hours each day (Feb 5 and 6). Winds varied from light to strong breeze.
