From Hope Rail Station to Win Hill (462m), back down to valley. Up to Lose Hill (476m). Along the 'Great Ridge' to Back Tor, Hollins Cross, and Mama Tor (517m). Down from the summit of Mam Tor on West side and back up onto Rushup Edge and Lords Seat (546m). Turned North, and then Northeast on Chapel Gate Track, descending to Barber Booth, to Edale, ending at the Old Nags Head Pub. The Met weather forecast was for overcast, but 10% or less for rain, and good visibility. Unfortunately the actual weather was fog, mist mixed with light rain, and mostly poor visibility all day. The summits of Win Hill, Lose Hill, Mam Tor, and Lords Seat were all shrouded in mist. I had intended on taking some nice pictures, primarily on Win Hill and Lose Hill and posting a write up about the Battle of 626 between armies of Northumbria and Mercia that give the two hills their names. As the photos I am posting on this 'Record' show, there were no nice views. I have traversed Rushup Edge before coming from the North from Brown Knoll. This time I came from the opposite direct. Practiced more pacing on the long stretches on Rushup Edge. Since it had rained all day the day before the walk, and was drizzling all day today, the path was full of running water, so stepping over rocks, and around deeper puddles of water caused variations of as many as 8 to 10 paces per 100 metres, off my 'normal' 62 paces per 100m. Good walk though. And after the lengthy COVID lock down, The Old Nags Head Pub had reopened this week. Any walk that ends at a Pub with a pint is a good day. Total Time: 5 hours 40 minutes; Total Distance 12.08 miles/19.29 km; Total Elevation Gain: 2,982 ft.
