I was doing an exploratory walk for a book I have now published about walks for people with large dogs and so I had my Alsatian with me! We began from the car park at Broughton Moor woods and navigated through the woodland on forestry tracks to Natty Bridge, (there are no signposts in the woods). We then headed North. I was planning on going onto Caw but the weather turned unseasonably warm so for the sake of my dog's welfare we walked to Dawson Pike and then returned to Natty Bridge. We had a detour from the original route to explore Lag Bank, (which we had circled beneath by way of Jordan Crag on the way up), before returning to the car via Postlethwaite Allotment and Appletree Worth Beck.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
