I was doing another walk for my book so I had my youngest Alsatian with me on this day. We began from Coniston centre and walked up the main track to Coppermines YHA. From there we headed up the track to Levers Water. We headed SW and joined a path to Boulder Valley which we followed to Crowberry Haws. We turned NE here and followed a path to Miners Bridge. Whilst I was there I decided to also do another walk for my book, so we turned NE and followed the easy path through the woods beneath Yewdale Fells. we turned right at Low Yewdale and followed the Cumbria Way back via Guards Wood and back to Coniston. I used 1:25000 OS maps throughout my walks for the books.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
