Description

Started at the car park in Gosforth. Headed East to the river Bleng then up through Blengdale Forest. Came out of the forest to start heading up the spur through Hause and up to the summit of Caw Fell. From here I headed round the top of Ennerdale Fell to Whoap then on to the trig point at Lank Rigg. I then headed down South crossed the river and followed the trail through Scalderskew Wood to then head SW then South back down to town and finish the route.
The route was all new to me which was cool. Weather was wet but the wind was down form previous days. There was a lot of off track navigation on this route to get up to Caw Fell and around the top.

Area : Western Fells

The Western Fells form the southern wall of the Buttermere valley and the northern fence of Wasdale. Between the two lies Ennerdale so that in effect the group is the shape of a single horseshoe, each branch about 10 miles in length. At the head of Ennerdale stands Great Gable. The southern arc of the group travels due west from Great Gable, the main ridge consisting of Kirk Fell, Pillar, Scoat Fell, Haycock and Caw Fell.
