Description

This was the second day of the two day Action Challenge event along The Thames Path. I had again plotted this route on an OS Explorer 1:25,000 map on the computer.
Route Runnymeade-Windsor-Maidenhead-Marlow-Henley-on Thames.
Total distance 50 kilometres. Time taken 12 hours 28 mins
I had again planned my food and liquid intake very carefully and had also planned the pace I wanted to walk at as finishing the event in a 'reasonable' time was the main aim of the walk.
At the start I felt some people started off very quickly and I was careful to maintain my preferred pace and not get 'carried away'. At the end I saw some of these people finish after us.
I have never walked in an area like this before and felt if I had been leading a walk it would be very important to look out for tree roots and also to be very carefully on the many bridges. The small bridges needed particular care, especially when coming downwards. It was also important to walk away from the side of the river and locks.
