Description

Rum Cuillin walking/scrambling with my wife Marion. Staying in bunkhouse at Kinloch. Climbed Hallival from the Coire Dubh path, on to Askival via North Ridge (avoided Pinnacle on east side via path), descent to Bealach an Oir and on to Trollaval, (quite exposed traverse to west summit), back to Bealach an Oir, traversed Askival and Hallival to Bealach Bearc-mheall, climbed Barkeval, back to Bealach and descended via Coire Dubh.
Definitely a must-do Scottish mountain experience. The gabbro is as good as Skye - and there are no crowds!

Area : Canna, Rum and Eigg

There are six peaks on the Isle of Rum in the mountains list. Walking/scrambling on Canna, Eigg and Muck should also be listed in this area. Mallaig is the nearest port on the Scottish mainland.
