Description

Volunteering day with Borders Forest Trust. Planting montane scrub species ("wee trees") near Rotten Bottom at around 600m. A good walk up, chatting with Phillip Ashmole, leading light of the Trust and author of "The Carrifran Wildwood" . A very fruitful and convivial few hours with a great team, all taking our turns at screefing, planting, adding vole guards etc. Species included Juniperus communis, Salix aurita, and Betula pubescens. A total of 2800 were planted over the course of two days.

Area : Moffat Hills
