Another day spent in adverse weather conditions teaching navigation to a group of 4 from Forest School in London, day two of their Gold DofE practice expedition. From the farm where we camped at SN925132, we headed through the woods to the path/road junction at SN945104. We had to change our intended route due to a collapsed bridge. From here we headed up tothe summit of Fan Fawr (very windy) and made a hasty retreat to the storey arms and down to Blaenglyn, the farm at SN977227 for a muddy nights sleep. It was a windy but thoroughly enjoyable day and well worth the effort!

Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park
Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) is a mountain range in South Wales. In a narrow sense, the name refers to the range of Old Red Sandstone peaks popular with walkers which lie to the south of Brecon. Sometimes referred to as "the central Beacons" they include South Wales' highest mountain, Pen y Fan. The range forms the central section of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog), a designation which also encompasses ranges both to the east and the west of "the central Beacons". This much wider area is also commonly referred to as "the Brecon Beacons".
