From Haweswater up onto Marsala Ill bell, to High Street, we watched storm clouds build and race down the valley towards shap, with rain on the forecast we made our descent down kidsty pike, when about 450m the heavens opened and the storm rolled down the valley, heavy rain till we got to Haweswater, the reservoir so low that ancient tree trunks were exposed and looked like giant spiders, winding through the woods we went too low too long and had to climb steeply upward, a burnt out tent at the end of the peninsula was frustratingly the only habitation we saw or trace of people, then more tents matter and people obviously staying a few days. Walked by the lake back to Haweswater car park. Reported tent site to wardens.

Area :
Far Eastern Fells
Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
