Member of a leader team on a charity challenge to complete the Welsh 3000s.
The pace (due to injuries and fitness) dictated that tough decisions were required to slim the group and to skip some summits.
I supervised legs over the Glyderau and Carneddau, starting approx 1230 on 16/5, up Cwm Padrig to Llyn y Cwn, traversing Glyder Fawr and Fach, arriving Gwern Gof Isaf approx 2130. We then set off for Pen Yr Ole Wen at 2230 (after sunset) and finished 0400 at Glan Dena on 17/5 after summiting Pen Yr Ole Wen with a final group of 14 including two leaders: one colleague and myself.
During the final ascent, two tough retirement decisions were made: one due to hip pain, a second due to impending asthma; these went with two of the four mountain leaders.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
