Description

From Linn of Dee to Bob Scott's bothy (50 min) on Sunday. Overnight there with Doug litter picker, mouth harpist, one armed poetry reader, & a young couple who arrived later & shared a sleeping bag.
Off by 8 on bright morning, up Beinn Bhreac & over to Beinn a' Choarain with some mist. Fairly direct down to Fords of Avon but too early (12.30) to overnight as planned, and the river was high. So up the end of Beinn Mheadoin to summit tor, which was quite slimy. Then down to Loch Etchachan & the Hutchison Hut, where I was joined by Elouise. Starry night.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
