Description

Working for Leading Edge delivery winter skills for the Womens Alpine Adventure Club.
Stunning day,no wind but a huge huge dump of snow the day before giving a considerable avalanche forecast.
Working with Charlie Chambers we took our group of ladies up windy ridge teaching skills as we progressed up to the Ptarmigan building.
One of our ladies felt a little unwell so I returned down the way we came with her whilst the others summited cairngorm.
Soft unconsolidated snow until almost at the ptarmigan where we put crampons on.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
