Description

Working for Connor Holdsworth in Skye.
2 day coarse - 8 clients
Objective: Working on Navigation and rope work.
Day 1 -
Conditions:
Clear sunny with a moderate wind.
Walked from the Sligachan hotel up along the ridge to Beinn Dearg Mheadhonach.
Quite steep group but the group moved really well and at a good pace.
We did lots of navigation practise on this day.
Day 2:
Really high winds forecasted, 75mph gusts NW DIRECTION.
I decided to take the group up choire uaigneich, this would make a really difficult walk in but I briefed the group it would be excellent practise to feel the conditions and manage themselves in a harsher environment which they were all looking forward to. I knew the further into the Coire we would get the more sheltered from the wind, which I was correct and it gave us a good environment to practise rope work and when and how to use a rope when you get to a slightly tricky step.
* there was a scream in the back corrie, but was unsure of what it was, 30minutes later the mountain rescue helicopter was trying to fly in but conditions were to difficult.
as my group began to defend we saw MR rescue on foot, they asked if once I had the group down safely to please come an assist with a rescue.
I got the group down safely an then returned to help MR, where a walker had apparently fallen.

Area : Cuillin and Torridon (Liathach)

This area is on the west coast of Scotland and its most well-known mountains are probably Beinn Eighe (1010m) and Liathach (1055m). The area is bordered by Loch Maree and the A832 to the north and Glen Carron and the A890 to the south. It should not to be confused with The Cuillin which is on Skye and listed in the Western Isles region. The mountains list contains all peaks above 800m.
