Description

A day spent addressing the weaknesses that the group had in navigation and the importance concentrating at key times along the journey where navigational decisions need to be made. This was basically a day ensuring the group always had the 5 D's straight before they started each leg of the journey, and ticked features off as they went. We walked from the campsite at Great Langdale via Little Langdale, Holme Fell, Tarn Hows over to Hawkshead Moor and the surrounding area.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
