Day two with two clients who wanted to go walking, learn to navigate and do some scrambling. The weather was forecast to deteriorate as the day progressed with increasing westerly wind. We decided to head to the Moelwyns to Cnicht to practice micro nav, bag a summit and hopefully avoid the worst of the weather. The plan worked. It rained the whole way to Gelli Lago, but stopped as we parked! We focused on five D's today and i gave my clients lead the whole walk. We went through the Bwlch Y Battel, past the Llyn at 636466, to the disused quarry at 636463 before picking up the ridge leading to the summit of Cnicht. We descended the SE ridge past Llyn yr Adar and some clever route-finding led us past Carnedd Melyn, through the Foxgloves and bracken back to the CP at Gelli Lago. As soon as we got back into the car, it started to chuck it down!

Moelwynion
The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
