Description

Leading a 5 day exped for Gordonstoun School. 12 students (12-13yrs) and 1 teacher.
DAY 1 Started in Blairmore and walked north to camp at Sandwood loch.
DAY 2 From sandwood loch headed NE to the Strathchailleach bothy, then on to Beinn Dearg (423m) before descending the ridge to Loch Keisgaig.
DAY 3 Loch Keisgaig to Cape Wrath Lighthouse over Cnoc a' Ghiubhais (298m). Return to camp via the same route.
DAY 4 Loch Keisgaig to SAndwood loch via the Strath Chailleach waterfall which falls onto the beach. Spent much of this day setting navigation tasks for the students going point to point on micro navigation legs
DAY 5 sandwood loch back to Blairmore.
Approx. 12 km per day, most days carrying overnight packs, working on expedition skills in a wild country area, totally unpathed aside from the first and last 5km of the exped.

Area : Coigach to Cape Wrath

This area is situated on the north-western tip of Scotland and contains 4 Munros (from biggest to smallest); Ben More Assynt (998m), Conival (987m), Ben Klibreck (962m) and Ben Hope (927m). Also included in the mountains list are all of the peaks above 700m. The southern boundary is the road which joins Ullapool to Lairg and then to the A9.
